Tasks and reminders
The reminder that comes back.
Beatrice holds what you have to do, the jobs that are only yours and the ones the whole house shares. She’ll mention them more than once, and she’ll never mention how many times she’s asked.
From the lock screen
Done, snoozed or pushed to tonight, without opening anything.
Most reminder apps fire once. If you were driving, or cooking, or halfway through a sentence, that was your one chance, and by evening it’s a badge you clear without reading. Beatrice comes back. Try it: tap the notification, then snooze it.

Asking twice isn’t nagging
It asks in exactly the same words every time, so the fourth ask doesn't sound more disappointed than the first.
Brian Long, who calls it the first thing he’d defend
Nothing anywhere counts how often she’s asked, because the moment a reminder keeps a tally it has turned into a scold, and the natural answer to a scold is turning off notifications for the whole app.
Two kinds of to-do
Yours, and everybody’s, in one list.
Only yours
Private to you. Nobody else in the house sees them.
- Refill the prescription
- Email the accountant back
- The thing you promised your sister on the phone
The house’s
In the shared pool. Claim one and it’s yours until it’s done.
- Clean the bathroom
- Descale the coffee maker
- Deal with the recycling
It knows when you’re awake
Set your hours. She stays inside them.
Tell Beatrice the hours you’re willing to hear from her. Anything due outside them waits for your next window, so the reminder about the gutters doesn’t land at 10:30 at night.
Clean the gutters, due 10:30pm
Outside your hours, so it waits until 8am tomorrow.
No streak. No tally. No red.
- A streak to keep alive.
- A count of how many times it asked.
- A red badge for anything late.
Nothing turns red when it’s late and there’s no number going down. Whatever didn’t get done yesterday is simply still on the list, waiting, the same as it was.
Also in Beatrice
The same rules, for the rest of the job.
She’ll ask again. Kindly.
Beatrice is free while it's in beta, and it's on iPhone. Get on the list and we'll write when there's a spot for you.
